Anne Akinyi Wekesa is a passionate educationist and a community transformation enthusiast based in Nairobi. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Science) and a Master’s Degree in Rural Sociology and Community Development. I have over 10 years working experience in education programme development and management and 5 years’ experience managing training and mentoring different calibre of staff. Anne currently works with Save the Children East and Southern Africa as Education Technical Advisor.
Anne started her high school teaching career in Lodwar High school, Turkana Count and grew in her profession for over 13 years. Anne has a deep love and passion for children’s education and protection. In 2000, Anne’s career took a new dimension when she enrolled for an MA at Nairobi University, and also taking up a volunteer work in Kibera Slums as a Community Organizer. Since then, she has dedicated her career and time to enhancing access to quality learning for marginalised children in Africa and has worked with different international organizations in Somalia, Sierra Leone, Liberia Uganda, Rwanda and DRC.
Outside of her education work, Anne enjoys small scale farming mainly for household consumption. Anne got the opportunity to give her life to Christ Jesus in while in form 1 in 1974. Through secondary school to University, she has endeavoured to grow in the knowledge and love of God and also help others to do the same. At some point, Anne engaged in a 2-year full time discipleship Ministry with Trinity Fellowship to disciple university students at Kenyatta University, together with her husband Mr Mike Wekesa. She continues to minister in this way at church as the opportunity presents itself.
